How to fish the Livingston Magnus: Tennessee Musky Fishing Guide Tips and Tricks

The new Magnus from Livingston Lures is a simple lure to use. Catching muskies can be as easy as casting the Magnus out and turning your reels handle. But if you want to get the most out of your Magnus below are a few retrieve tricks to help you start mixing things up and inevitably put more muskies in your net.

  • Rod rips can be used in while straight retrieving to add a surging, panicked motion to your Magnus. This is a great trick when fishing over open water or when your lure is nearing the boatside.

  • Stalls and pauses can trigger strikes. Simply stop reeling in your Magnus and allow a second for your lure to fall. Each time you let the Magnus fall it will fall at different angles mimicking an injured baitfish.

  • Upwards rod tap can be added to make your Magnus jump upwards during your retrieve. By quickly popping your rod in an upwards motion your Magnus will jump upwards towards the surface. I recommend letting your Magnus free fall for just an instant after the upwards pops.

The Magnus is highly versatile and can be used in just about every musky fishing scenario due to its variable weighting system. This coupled with some on the water improvisation during each retrieve will work wonders for your rate of musky success.
